Who we are
Nurturers Nest Clinic ("we", "us") is a midwife-led clinic registered with the South African Nursing Council. Our practice details are at the bottom of this page.
What we collect
To care for you and your baby we collect:
- Identification — name, date of birth, ID/passport number, contact details.
- Medical history — past pregnancies, conditions, medications, allergies, family history.
- Pregnancy & birth records — antenatal visit notes, scans, blood results, birth records.
- Payment information — invoices, receipts, medical-aid details if applicable. We never store your card number; payments are processed by Paystack.
- Communications — WhatsApp, SMS, email, and portal messages exchanged with our team.
How we use it
Your information is used to:
- Provide your antenatal, birthing and postnatal care.
- Schedule appointments, share results, and answer questions.
- Bill for services and submit medical-aid claims (with your consent).
- Comply with South African Nursing Council and Department of Health record-keeping requirements.
How we protect it
Your records are stored in encrypted systems with role-based access — only the clinical and admin staff who need to see your file can. Backups are encrypted. We follow the security standards required by the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Who we share with
We share information only when it's necessary for your care or required by law:
- Referrals — if we refer you to an obstetrician, hospital, or paediatrician, we share relevant notes.
- Medical-aid — only if you've given us your scheme details and asked us to submit claims.
- Legal — when required by court order, subpoena, or applicable law.
We never sell your information. We never share it for marketing.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask what information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Withdraw consent for non-clinical uses (e.g. marketing — though we don't do that anyway).
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you're not happy with how we handle your data.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies only to keep you signed in (after you ask to be). We don't use third-party advertising trackers. If we add basic analytics (page-view counts) in future, we'll update this page first.
Children
The site is for parents and caregivers. Information about babies and children is held under the parent or guardian who is registered with us. Children under 18 should not register on the site themselves.
